Reverend Dr. James Crawford (In Memoriam)

is a licensed minister and counselor. He was ordained in 2000 and is the former Assistant Pastor of the New Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church located in the heart of Chicago’s West Garfield from 2001 to 2010. Rev. James Crawford joined Oakdale in 2010 and serves as Associate Minister and Director of Ministries at Oakdale Evangelical Covenant Church under Pastor D. Darrell Griffin D.Min. Rev. Crawford is currently a Lieutant on the Chicago Police Department where he has worked for 20 years

Rev. Crawford is a licensed counselor with the National Board of Certified Counselor,  the American Counseling Association, a Illinois Licensed Counselor and a Certified Crisis Intervention Counselor. He has his own Counseling and Consulting business Crawford Consulting LLC, where he does family, couples, and individual counseling, as well as leadership training. He also teaches Leadership workshops around the country using biblical principles to improve organizations and churches. He believes that strong, well developed, and shared leadership makes a strong and powerful organization.

Rev. Crawford received his B. A. in Communications from Governor State University. A Masters in Clinical Psychology from Chicago State University, a Masters of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary and his Doctorate of Ministries from North Park Theological Seminary.

Rev. Crawford is married to Erie S. Emery and they have three children Jamon, Nathan and Nathaniel and make their home on the south side of Chicago.  Erie Crawford is a social worker at the University of Chicago Hospital, with a B.A. and Masters Degree in Social Work from Loyola University of Chicago.
